Mount Airy, MD – Keller Construction Management was recently awarded a contract to provide Design-Build services on the Apple Ridge Pool and Bath house project for Montgomery Village Foundation. This project consists of the demolition and replacement of the existing pool and the design and construction of a new activity/leisure pool. The new pool will have a total of 7,000 sf of water area including a main pool, current channel, spray ground and wading pool. The pool will have a maximum water depth of five feet and will be inclusive of fun features such as a slides, pipe falls, tumble buckets, and underwater benches. The current channel surrounds a concrete deck island with bridge access. The pool will also include a ramp beach entry. In addition, a new pool filter system will be installed with an energy saving pump motor drive.
The new bathhouses will be ADA compliant and include showers, restrooms and changing areas. A family restroom area with shower will also be added, as well as a new reception desk and guard shack. The bathhouse renovations include new floor finishes, new light fixtures, new partitions, new doors and new plumbing fixtures.
Site work will include demolition, a new entryway and handicapped parking at pool entrance, all new concrete pool decking, new 8’ fencing around the perimeter of the pool area, renovations to equipment and storage areas, and storm water management. Smolen Emr Ilkovitch is the architect on the project. Team members also include aquatics design specialist, Dave Almy, Paddock Swimming Pool Company, ADTEK Engineers and Alban Engineering.
The new pool will be completed in time to open in May 2017 for the start of the swim season.
